David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award retained
31 October 2021
Here at Woodhouse Farm we’re always proud of the conservation work we do but we’re particularly proud that we have once again retained our David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award.
The David Bellamy Conservation Awards are one of the longest running green tourism awards in the UK and champion holiday parks that continually work to protect and enhance the environment. Three levels of excellence can be achieved – Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each holiday park is regularly inspected with assessors looking at how a holiday park:
- Manages their land as a haven for wildlife
- Reduces their resources such as energy, water, etc
- Reduces, reuses and recycles any wastes
- Supports their local communities
We continually strive to protect and enhance our natural environment, here in our special corner of the Yorkshire Dales. Recent projects include a new brand bug hotel, which can be found up by the fishing lake. We are also planting wildflowers throughout the Park, to encourage bees, planting trees and hedging, and letting our meadows grow where we can. Early in 2022, as part of our continuing investment in nature, we are planning on erecting dead hedging throughout the woodland.
